For some, it is purely for detoxification purposes. A handful just to feel "clean". Another group like myself, turn to Juice Cleansing with the sole purpose of slimming. While the rest; just join the bandwagon.
But whatever the reasons may be, results have shown that you will definitely shed those pounds, look healthy and radiant and consequently feel good about yourself.
I mentioned earlier that investing in a blender instead of a juicer seemed a mistake. The original idea of going on a full juice cleanse diet for a week was scrapped. Now, I simply substitute one meal for a pulp-filled juice each day. A far cry from my initial intended, but it's still a promise to myself to make good use of the money spent.
I chanced upon an article that got my spirits high today. It talked about the nutritional benefits I get from juicing or blending.
Fruit and vegetable juices hardly contain any fibre, since it's usually removed through processing. For example, if you juice two oranges, the resulting product will have zero grams of fibre.
Blend the same two oranges whole into a smoothie, however, and you'll have 6g of the good stuff. Some bottled brands include added fibre via grain extracts or other additives like maltodextrin, a type of soluble fibre.
What you should know: "It's not clear if juice with added fibre would really be more nutritious than regular juice," says Monique Ryan, author of Sports Nutrition For Endurance Athletes.
If you really want more fibre in your juice, just put the whole fruit or vegetables in your blender. This way, you'll keep their fibre intact for a natural, more filling drink.
Another interesting fact is that though I get hungry really quickly after Juicing or blending for that matter. The hunger lasts longer when I consume the pulp and chew on it. Mentally, it gives me the impression that I ate.
Totally pumped, I decided to try substituting 2 meals instead of 1 today. However, my rationale stands that I can only blend fruits and certain vegetables. I'm staying away from the leafy ones as I think it's harder to gulp the pulp down.
Breakfast: Rock Melons & Cucumber. It leaves a refreshing taste. But only the initial few mouthfuls. My tastebuds started going funky towards the end of the drink. Started to have a funny after-taste.
Lunch: Oranges and cucumber. Lunch came early as I realize juicing can only last me 2 hours. My stomach will start growling after 2 hours.
I like this blend better out of all the experiments I've tried. You just can't go wrong with oranges. And the cucumber gives you a cooling taste that is perfect for the horrible heat these days.
Dinner: 2 x Drumlets, Fishball and fishcakes. Simple affair for dinner. But I was so hungry, I couldn't do another Juice meal. Too weak.
Today's weigh-in: 55.2kg
